Family Connections

Over the weekend I went through the Andreassend family tree and tried to connect up names with various sites from Facebook, Oldfriends etc, the response has been almost overwhelming, so many relatives! I hope the email wasn`t too much of a surprise or at least a welcomed one. The emails were so good to read, my parents can`t believe how many people responded, we are certainly a wide spread family and with many stories waiting to be shared. What began as a surprise present for my Dads birthday, (what else does one get for a man of his age)  has quickly grown into something so much bigger.
There are so many photos and stories as well as some questions. Everyone seems to want to know how far the family tree goes back and where we came from.  Over the next few days I`ll add some ideas and if anyone else has some please send them through. I started a facebook page it is Andreassend Timaru if you haven`t got an invite just request one.Link at the top right.

For starters I heard a rumour that Albert went on a supply ship to the Antarctic for an expedition possibly for Amundsen.I would love to hear all the theories on the spelling of the Andreassend surname and how the D was added. I think it it is brilliant in this computer era, search for  Andreassend and you come up with our family!! type it in without the d and you come up with hundreds and none are are relatives. Norwegian surnames evolved from the first name with the addition of sen or datter.  Andreassen   simply means Andrea`s son.
Norwegian archives are a stunning resource, if anyone can read Gothic Norwegian typefaces as well as handwriting let me know.!
Photos would be good at about 5megs. and atleast 300dpi, I am more than happy to do some restoration on them.
Also does anyone have the family tree in a word or spreadsheet format all I have is a very old printout.

Thanks for all the contacts, information and  photos I am looking to seeing so much more.
I hope to post the photos in the next few days.

Regards Ronald
