Timaru South School 1937

I have been scanning in photos of the family albums, this one turns out
to be a real discovery, Noel and Gordon had no idea of its existence.
A tiny frame barely 20mm wide cropped, scanned in at 6000dpi plus
an hour editing! Makes a great composition after 72 years.

Noel Andreassend, Jim Andreassend cousins 1938
" Hey you are stirring the pot now the South School headmasters name was Mottram a german ,my teacher was a miss morgan 1937 std 1 (wow very bad temper lady because 4by 11 =44 but I said 42 and got a bang over the knuckles with a brass edge of 12 inch ruler and the only sympathy at home ,best you don,t forget it Wow)
I bet you Jim has memories of him at old Timaru but he must have shifted 1939 I think
The headmaster (Mottram) came to Christchurch and you gotta believe it I got him at the old normal school std3 in Cranmer Square,He was not the most popular item but hey you have to put up with things in life.
As happens later on his sons or one was anyway were quite successful in business around Ch Ch.
One in particular had a milk run we serviced his truck now and then and he lived in a house in Madras street St Albans it,s outstanding feature that it was not painted for over about 40 years and is still standing I think, must have a look.
By the way that son was a very genuine person and I think he only left this earth 10 yrs back I,m living the past again" Noel Andreassend 2009

"I could not pick out the boy who lived opposite Charlie.s house but I do recall one of the boys did not have shoes summer or winter( Cracked toes ouch etc etc )and he used to come to school from the area near the old airfield called Salt water creek, he is in the picture ,Ask Jim he might remember.
Another feature we had at that school were garden plots on south bank of the school each class had responsibility for those interested" Noel Andreassend 2009
